Families love coming to Brattleboro, especially Downtown Brattleboro! There’s always something new to discover, and plenty of places to visit within a short walk. Here’s an itinerary of ideas of ways you can enjoy it too.Start off the morning at the Retreat Petting Farm, it’s a fun favorite! Sitting just on the outskirts of Downtown Brattleboro, it offers a chance for children to interact with real farm animals. Warm summer months in Vermont mean swimming, and the best places to experience the ‘real Vermont’ is visiting an all-natural swimming hole. The waters run cool and refreshing in these mountain streams, and there are plenty of opportunities in the West River. If it’s a rainy day, or you’re looking for something a little more structured, there’s the indoor play space at KidsPLAYCE. Even the youngest amongst us find walking around Downtown Brattleboro doable. Maybe it’s because stopping off for a quick bite at one of our local eateries, like duo Restaurant, for a Family-Friendly Brunch, is a tasty treat. After brunch, be sure to head over to Beadnicks to make personalized, one-of-a-kind bracelets and test out their collection of vintage-style toys. After a bit more exploring, it’s time for a quick snack, so stopping by Sam’s for a little free popcorn will hit the spot! If you’re craving a movie with that popcorn, the classic Latchis Theatre is just down the street. The Latchis’ Art Deco styling hosts current releases as well as some old-time favorites and live events. Wandering back through town, you might find a new pair of sunglasses at Boomerang, or a fun new toy or perfect pillow at the B’s Nest. Topping off the afternoon with a stop at WOW Frozen Yogurt and maybe a quick cup of coffee for the grown-ups at Mocha Joes or The Works Bakery. Before heading home, be sure to grab a little piece of Vermont to take with you at the Galanes Vermont Shop– chock-full of Vermont-made gifts and souvenirs.
This is just one way to spend your family fun day in Downtown Brattleboro. Be sure to check out all of our downtown merchants and more ways to explore the area!
