The Brattleboro Literary Festival began in 2002 and featured Nobel Prize winning legend Saul Bellow in his last public appearance.

Since then the festival has gone on to present over 400 authors, including winners of the Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, National Book Critics Circle Award, Newbery Medal, and the Caldecott Medal.

The Brattleboro Literary Festival spans a weekend, and often expands into a 3 or 4 day extravaganza of all things literary. The Festival includes events like Author Readings, Poetry Slams, Flash Fiction, and the truly innovative creations such as the smashingly successful Literary Death Match. Many events offer unique opportunities to Meet Your Favorite Authors.

The Brattleboro Literary Festival occurs annually in the Fall (early October) in beautiful southeastern Vermont. The peak foliage adds to the ambiance as you wonder through the iconic streets of Downtown Brattleboro, VT, where you can feel the energy that has inspired so many literary greats throughout the ages.
