Happiest 10 year anniversary to Mitchell/Giddings Fine Arts on Main Street, one of the finest galleries in town. Jim & Petie have been bringing absolutely world-class exhibits to Brattleboro for a decade, and we are so grateful for it!

Petria Mitchell and Jim Giddings, co-owners of Mitchell-Giddings Fine Arts, have been steeped in the New England regional arts scene for over four decades. Both professional artists and affiliated with numerous arts organizations and nonprofits, the owners have developed broad knowledge and insights into the world of artmaking, artists and galleries. They have a passion to work with fellow artists and create novel ways to exhibit their artwork.

This passion brought about, in 2013, the purchase of a space, and after exhaustive renovations, a cutting edge gallery opened to the public September 18, 2014, in the heart of downtown Brattleboro. Celebrating the inaugural exhibition for Mitchell-Giddings Fine Arts, guest Wolf Kahn proclaimed. “You’ve brought Paris to Brattleboro!"

Jim & Petie, THANK YOU. Your presence, your superb curation, your unwavering support of and love for Downtown Brattleboro is a shining light, and we are so grateful.

Downtown Trick-or-Treating returns on Halloween ni

Downtown Trick-or-Treating returns on Halloween night! That's right, it's BrattleBOO & the Horribles Parade, the spookiest night of the year in Downtown Brattleboro.

5-7pm Go store to store for trick-or-treating and check out the Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Department Trunk-or-Treat event behind the Gibson-Aiken Center.

6pm Meet at the Brattleboro Food Co-op on the Whetstone Walkway for the Horribles Parade. Kids and Families in costume parade up Main Street behind a Brattleboro Police Department motorcade and the Brattleboro Union High School Marching Band. Brattleboro Fire Department brings up the rear and the whole procession marches up to the Gibson-Aiken Center.

What's a music town without an excellent guitar te

What's a music town without an excellent guitar teacher? Brattleboro doesn't have that problem! We have Graham Brooks, guitar-shredding teacher extraordinaire. Graham's studio located on Main Street, above Echo Restaurant & Lounge, is where the magic happens, or the teaching, maybe both?!

Graham Brooks is a professional guitarist, composer and educator. He has traveled the world playing guitar professionally for the past decade, performing and recording with bands such as Witch, Barishi, Ordh and with solo artists such as Sasami Ashworth. Most recently, he has toured in support of bands such as Japanese Breakfast, Mitski and Haim in both Europe and North America. Graham has performed live on KEXP, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, WXPN and at music festivals such as Levitation Fest, Desert Daze, SXSW, Winterland and many more. His playing has appeared in The New York Times, Pitchfork and Rolling Stone.

Graham has a holistic teaching style that aims to demystify the fretboard, and develop systems for truly understanding the neck. He puts an emphasis on discovering your unique voice on the instrument through improvisation. He teaches a wide variety of techniques that are useful in tackling difficult and fast passages such as sweeping, tapping, economy and swybrid picking. His teaching incorporates music theory, ear-training, application of scale systems and intervallic relationships. His goal is to help you develop a tool chest of techniques and knowledge that will allow you to express yourself, uninhibited by technical or knowledge restraints.

Located at 105 Canal St, Vegan A.F. is practically downtown but is technically just outside of downtown proper (read: less traffic and easy parking), and it offers both indoor & patio dining options. You will want to make a reservation folks, bc at this shoebox eatery, the seats are coveted and go quickly- but if you don't have a reservation, do you go ahead and walk in as they are usually happy to accommodate if they can! Regulars, apologies in advance if we are revealing this secret spot but we juuust couldn't help it. It's TOO GOOD!

The CT River Conservancy, CT River Valley Trout Unlimited, and The Latchis present the International Fly-Fishing Film Festival on September 19th. It's a big deal! 🤩

This event will feature nine short films with a total running time of 1hr and 45 minutes. Each film was created by a different group, they all feature stunning cinematography in absolutely dazzling locations around the world. It is a feast for the eyes! It is an up close look at exotic species, and waterways, and the adventurous anglers who travel in pursuit. Action packed!

This is a fundraiser for these organizations working steadfast and relentlessly to preserve and restore our waterways. Their work is vital.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the door for $15.
